Abstract

Tuta absoluta, a major tomato pest, causes severe yield losses globally. This study screened 15 tomato landraces for resistance based on larval survival, feeding damage, and biochemical markers. Three landraces exhibited significant resistance, correlating with higher trichome density and phenolic content.
GC-MS analysis revealed elevated levels of α-tomatine and flavonoids in resistant lines. Behavioral assays confirmed reduced larval preference for resistant genotypes. Integrating resistant landraces into breeding programs can reduce pesticide dependence and enhance integrated pest management strategies.
