Abstract

Chemical control is the main strategy of handling the early potato jewellery, caused by Alternaria solani and A. alternata. Objective: to evaluate the biocontrol efficiency of Trichoderma harzianum on A. solani and A. alternate and understand its mechanisms of action. The inhibition of T. harzianum on A. solani and A. alternata was evaluated by dual crops growing in the same plate or in facing plates, measuring the radial growth of the colonies. Verse tests were performed, design in complete randomized blocks, 12 repetitions. Potato plants were inoculated with A. solani or A. conidium suspensions between 70 and 84 days after planting (DDP). Treatments: inoculated witness; T. harzianum applied at 60 and 75DDP (Th .60-75); T. harzianum applied weekly from 45DDP (Th .semanal) and boscalid-piraclotrobina at 60 and 75DDP (Tqco-60-75). Leaf incidence was determined and the area was calculated under the disease progress curve (ABCPE). The colonies of Alternaria spp. growing with T. harzianum had less diameter, lower growth rate and darker coloration compared to witnesses. In winter, differences in incidence and ABCPE were observed between T. harzianum treatments with respect to the witness, being lower in some determinations. The ABCPE in Th .semanal was similar Tqco-60-75 for A. solani, while for A. alternata Th .60-75 it was similar to Tqco-60-75. Promising effects on protecting potato cultivation with T. harzianum against A. solani and A. alternate were shown.
