Abstract

 

The objective of this review work was to analyze the state of art of potato cultivation for the consumption of frozen prefrita potato (PPFC) in Ecuador. An analysis of genetic diversity, cultivated area, economic importance, imports and exports, State policies, strategies to genetically improve cultivation are made and finally discussions are discussed on the new challenges and prospects for cultivation, in the face of new demands, with great potential, particularly as an alternative crop for the areas of the Ecuadorian Coast.
